I want to share a story of how grateful we are that we have your security and smoke alarm monitoring system with Advanced Consumer Electronics, and how it worked very efficiently in averting what could have been a major disaster. Later in the afternoon, I was at home and my wife was at work, or so I thought. To my surprise she called me and said to come outside to the driveway immediately. She had secretly brought home a new car I had been wanting and said if I liked it we needed to quickly leave to go to the dealer  before they closed in order to finalize the purchase. She had already negotiated the deal, pending my approval. Being so emotionally surprised and shocked, I quickly ran into the house, grabbed a few things and we zipped off to the dealer.

Now here is the important variable about me writing to you: I had eggs boiling on the stove when this occurred and I totally forgot about this in my excitement. We went to the dealer, completed the deal and went out to eat to celebrate. While eating, my wife got a call on her cell phone from LPS, ACE's monitoring station, saying our home smoke alarm went off and the firemen were on their way to our house because LPS had called them. By now it was at least an hour and a half to two hours since we left the house. It was only then I remembered that I had been boiling eggs when we left the house. Our hearts sank and we were now in another state of shock, thinking about our house on fire and our two dogs in the house. We raced home to find the firemen there and our house not a blaze. They had arrived within 5 minutes of the call to them and they had everything under control. The only damage was egg splatters from the eggs blowing up in the kitchen and some lingering smoke and a charred pot, which fortunately had not caught fire because it was restaurant quality. The firemen had huge fans airing out the house and our dogs were scared, but OK physically. In a couple days there were no after effects of this in terms of house damage or smell, all of which I attribute to the quick response of the firemen as a result of the call.

In the 15 years we have had your security and monitoring service, we have never had to use your services. Also, I want to point out that I am an experienced, good, home cook and very careful.. However, in this one instance, I want to emphasize that certain situational conditions can override the best habits of being careful and cautious. Had we not had your monitoring system of our smoke detectors, and quick action of calling the fire department, I am sure our house and dogs would have been destroyed. The lesson learned for us is that, the expense of a security and smoke alarm, monitored system by a reputable, local company is a bargain, compared to what could have happened in this one instance.

You probably only hear about complaints and problems, but rarely of success stories. This was a success story, and I wanted to take the time to let you know the value we place on your excellent service.
